Pope Francis Leaves Posthumous Gift to Gemelli Hospital

In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, Pope Francis left a posthumous gift for the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the professionals at the Gemelli University Polyclinic, where he received care during his final hospital stay. The gift consists of two images of the Virgin of Luján, a revered figure in Argentina. This act of kindness reflects Pope Francis’s appreciation for the care and compassion he received from the medical staff.

The images of the Virgin of Luján, adorned in the traditional white and light blue mantle of the Argentine flag, were discovered by Rector Elena Beccalli when she visited Casa Santa Marta to pay her final respects to the Pope. This thoughtful gesture is a testament to Pope Francis’s humility and gratitude. During his last meeting with the Gemelli Polyclinic team on April 16, Pope Francis expressed his thanks and assured them of his prayers, also requesting their prayers for him.

In a lighthearted moment, Pope Francis praised the leadership of women, telling Rector Beccalli, “When women rule, things go well.” This posthumous gift serves as a reminder of Pope Francis’s kindness and appreciation for those who cared for him during his time of need.
