Pope Francis Heartily Appreciates the Prayers for his Recovery

Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized at the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, expressed his gratitude this Friday for the prayers and messages received, wishing him a speedy recovery.

“I sincerely appreciate the prayers and the many messages of closeness and affection that have arrived these days. I pray for everyone, especially those who suffer. I ask you to continue praying for me, ”said the Holy Father through his Twitter account.

The Pontiff was hospitalized on Wednesday after presiding over the General Audience to undergo scheduled surgery for intestinal obstruction.

Because his recovery will take a few days, the Vatican reported that as a precaution all audiences have been suspended until Sunday, June 18.

Among the expressions of affection that Pope Francis has received is the letter that the siblings of a baby named Miguel Ángel wrote to him, whom the Holy Father had baptized in March at the Gemelli Hospital.

For his part, the director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, reported on the night in Rome that the postoperative process of the Holy Father “continues to be regular and within the norm” and that he continues to eat a liquid diet.

He also indicated that during the afternoon he had dedicated himself to prayer and work activities. Also, he received the Eucharist.

“Pope Francis is moved by the many messages that he continues to receive in these hours,” and directs “his thoughts and thanks to the children who are hospitalized, for the care and love received through their drawings and messages.”

Bruni pointed out that the Pontiff also expresses his gratitude “for his closeness and prayer” to “medical, nursing, social health workers and spiritual assistants who daily touch pain with their hands, relieving its weight.”
