Pope Francis Donates Medicines to Victims of the Earthquake

Pope Francis donated 10,000 medicines for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Pope’s beggar, together with the Turkish Embassy to the Holy See, has been in charge of coordinating this third aid package sent to the Turkish country, reported the Vatican on 28 March.

This is a new gesture of closeness by the Holy Father with those affected by the devastating earthquake that shook the border area between Turkey and Syria on February 6, with a balance of more than 50,000 deaths.

The Department for the Service of Charity has sent this aid to those affected by the tragedy that has forced the displacement of almost 2 million people.

In addition to these medicines, they have mainly sent canned food from the Vatican, as well as diapers and other materials for the most urgent needs.

In the early hours of Monday, February 6, a strong 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria, killing around 50,000 people and injuring thousands.

The Turkish government decreed alarm level 4 and asked for international help after more than a thousand buildings in various provinces in southern Turkey and northern Syria were demolished by the strong earthquake.
