Pope Francis advocated a reciprocal respect between faith and science rooted in the culture of care that would also imply a respect for creation, a respect for others, a respect for self and a respect for the Creator. This was said during the meeting ‘Faith and Science: A call for COP26’ organized by the embassies of the United Kingdom and Italy. It was held on October 4 in the Hall of Blessing of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican.
Pope Francis met other religious leaders and scientists from around the world and took a common stand for the protection of the environment. It is also considered as the solidarity to the UN Climate Change Conference scheduled for 1- 12 November in Glasgow, Scotland. The Pope said that we need to recognise the signs of divine harmony present in the natural world, for no creatures are self-sufficient; they exist only in dependence on each other, complementing and serving each other. All humanity has the call to respect each other and there should be a mutual respect between faith and science. In this way we have to offer concrete hope to future generations, the Pope added.
