PM Modi Gifts Candelabra, a Book to Pope Francis; Pope Presents Bronze Plaque in Return

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents a silver candelabra and a book on climate change during a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican. The Pope’s gift to Modi was a bronze plaque with an olive leaf, a symbol of hope in the Bible.

 The olive tree is a symbol of hope in the Bible. The word ‘desert will become a garden’ (Isaiah 32:15) from the Book of Isaiah the prophet is inscribed on the olive leaf. Modi handed over the candle pedestal to the Pope saying that it was specially made in India. Modi also presented a book titled ‘The Climate Climb: India’s Strategy, Actions, and Achievements which describes the steps taken by India to tackle climate change. Modi handed over the book with the introduction that it is your favorite subject.

Prime Minister extended an invitation to Pope Francis to visit India and the Pope accepted it with pleasure, it is said.
