Being able to think calmly and act calmly is something that everyone wants. Perhaps one of the most desirable things in life is peace of mind. Good things can only come from a calm, peaceful mind.
It is not necessary to have the right things from a troubled, anxious mind. Many problems in daily life can cause us to lose our peace. There are so many things that bother us every day. So what should we do to keep the peace? The answer is given by Brother Lawrence, a Carmelite monk who lived in the seventeenth century.
He begins by proposing a solution by clarifying a world of two members, he and God. He says: “I brought him into my heart with my Father and God, and worshiped him to the fullest extent possible, and filled my mind with the thoughts of God, reminding myself from time to time that I was in God’s holy presence. No matter what the problems, I’m just going through the motions.
If we are believers, we will experience that our problems and crises will be alleviated when we keep ourselves fully in God’s holy presence and send Him before us. Practice experiencing God’s presence, or try to be always present with God. The peace and tranquility provided by God cannot be compared to anything else.
Are all kinds of worries haunting you? Surrounded by fear? Can’t sleep peacefully? Then you can fill your thoughts with God’s thoughts. It can be completely left to God without a doubt. Doing so regularly is a great experience of God – grace may seem to fill you. We can apply this spiritual practice in our lives to achieve the gift of peace of mind.
