The mosaic image of Our Lady of the Angels enthroned in the Vatican Gardens on 26 October. The Virgin Mary of Angels is the patron saint of Costa Rica.
“The enthronement of the mosaic image of the Virgin of Our Lady of the Angels, in the Vatican Gardens, is an event that represents the value of the faith that unites us as a Catholic people, and at the same time encourages us and fills us with joy, ” said Mons. Jose Manuel Garita Herrara, the president of the Episcopal Confrence of Costa Rica. The Bishop thanked Pope Francis for the message that he sent to Costa Rica.
Our Lady of Angels is a Marian dedication from Spain that arrived in America during the period of conquest. Declared the patron saint of Costa Rica by the Congress of the Republic in 1824.
