“One million children praying the Rosary”: Venezuela’s Initiative for the World

The “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” initiative, launched in Venezuela in 2005, has grown into a global movement, promoting Christian values and devotion to the Catholic Church. Ayeila Bello Conde, the general coordinator, recalled the program’s beginnings, where laypeople organized children to pray the Rosary in Caracas squares, leading to a powerful moment that inspired expansion.

Now, the National Conference of Laity (CNL) and pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) partner to unite millions of children worldwide in prayer. The annual event takes place on October 18-20, with themes inspired by Pope Francis’ initiatives, such as this year’s “Heirs of Heaven’s Goods.” Participants receive educational materials, and registration is available on the official website.

ACN emphasizes the Fatima apparitions’ message, “Pray the Rosary and there will be peace,” amidst global conflicts. The campaign surpasses its one-million-participant goal annually, with free materials available in over 15 languages. Lucia, Fatima’s eldest visionary shepherd, emphasized the Rosary’s power, stating, “There is not a single problem…that we cannot solve by praying the Rosary.”

This global prayer initiative seeks to instil Christian values, promote peace, and unite children worldwide in devotion to the Catholic Church. As Bello Conde noted, “It’s not just about praying the Rosary with children, but about teaching them Christian values and our devotions.”
