One million children praying the rosary is a campaign organized by the Catholic Charity Aid to Church in Need annually on October 18, the feast of St. Luke. Children in South Sudan, Burma and Lebanon have joined this year. The organization has provided meditations on the mysteries of the rosary for children. It is printed in 24 languages and a prayer to St. Joseph also included in the coloured pages.
More than 100,000 children from various countries including US, Spain, Kenya, India, Colombia, and the Philippines have registered to participate in the rosary campaign. This campaign is deeply inspired from Saint Padre Pio who is known for his devotion to praying rosaries daily. Before a couple of days of his death the Saint encouraged his spiritual children to pray rosary. Hence the organization seeks to encourage children to pray “hand in hand with Our Lady and under the protection of Saint Joseph.” This rosary campaign was started by the organization in 2005 in Caracas.
