Novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague: Day 02

Opening Prayer:

O Holy Infant Jesus of Prague, behold us prostrate at Thy feet imploring Thy blessing and assistance. We firmly believe in Thy goodness, Thy love and Thy mercy. We also know that the more we honor Thee, the more Thou wilt bless us. Remember that thou hast told us to ask, to seek, and to knock at the Door of Thy Infinite Mercy. So it is with the greatest confidence that we kneel before Thee today. Teach us how to ask that we may receive; show us how o seek what we find. Be pleased to listen while we knock, O Divine Infant Jesus, and open Thy loving Heart to our trustful supplication. Amen.
O Mary, Mother of God, and our Immaculate Mother pray to Jesus for us.

MEDITATION

The Goodness and Kindness Of Jesus

“Come to me all you that labor and are burdened and I will refresh you” (Matt. 11:28)

Goodness is inseparable from love. Because Jesus is all love, He is all goodness. In order to convince ourselves of the overflowing goodness of Jesus, we have only to recall a few of the scenes of His Mortal Life, here on earth. For instance, to save a newly-wed couple from embarrassment, Jesus was pleased to work his first miracle during the wedding feast, even though His time had not yet come. No; His appointed hour for working miracles was not at hand, for even so did our Divine Master explains, in reply to His Mother’s request.

On this occasion, Jesus changed water into the richest wine. In another significant scene, earnest prayer of faith moved Him to cure the Centurion’s servant. Seeing a widowed mother weeping over the corpse of her only son, the tender heart of our Divine Redeemer was touched. He restored the youth to live and gave him to his mother. A sinner was about to be stoned to death, and Jesus protected her from her accusers. The blind implored mercy, and they received their sight. So great is the goodness and kindness of
Jesus that He invites us all to come to Him. He desires us to draw near that He may refresh our spirits and give us new hope; new courage, while we labor in the heat of this long day of our earthly life. Let us heed the inviting words of our loving Jesus and draw nearer to Him as He cries out; “Come to me all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you.”

Concluding Prayer

O Sweetest Infant Jesus, Who didst come down from the bosom of the Father for our salvation, teach us how to be kind to our fellowmen for love of Thee. If we love each other, we shall be giving a sure proof that we belong to Thee; for Thou didst say; “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another.” O Divine Infant Jesus, in Thy infinite goodness and kindness, listen to my humble petition; and if it be pleasing to Thee, grant my intentions in this Novena. (Here mention petition)…Thou who dost invite us to come to Thee for refreshment and peace wilt not refuse to help me in this necessity. Help me, sweet Infant Jesus, for without Thee I can do nothing. Amen.

Mother of Mercy, pray for us
