More than 100 relics of Christ, the Holy Family, and numerous saints will be presented at a parish in upstate New Jersey on Saturday, February 24, from noon to 7 p.m.
The Oratory of Our Lady of Mount Carmel located at 94 Pine Street in Montclair Township will host the exhibit. The parish belongs to the Archdiocese of Newark, about 20 miles west of New York City.
“I think it will be an experience for people, especially for such a large exhibit,” Joe Santoro, U.S. regional delegate for the International Crusade for Sacred Relics (ICHR), told.
Santoro is the one who provides the relics for the exhibition, which he has received in the course of his work dedicated to the preservation of these sacred objects. He stated that his effort to preserve the relics amounts to “rescuing them from places where they would not receive due respect.”
The exhibition includes a handful of relics from the Passion: a small splinter from the Cross, and fragments of the Crown of Thorns, the tomb of Christ and the column on which Jesus was scourged before his crucifixion. It also includes relics of the Nativity, such as fragments of the veil of the Holy Virgin, the manger of the Lord, and the bones of the Three Wise Men.
