Children must be taught life values and good habits to grow up to be good personalities. Here are a few good lessons that every child should learn.
Healthy Food Habits
Children’s diet should include leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and whole grains. Maintain a small kitchen garden at home. If these pesticide-free vegetables are served in salads or cooked in different ways, children’s health can be ensured.
Avoid junk food and processed food as much as possible. You can prepare healthy meals at home. Children should be instructed on the problems caused by junk food at an early age. Children will not feel bored once a week if they have fried rice or pulao prepared properly with a good mix of vegetables.
Let the Children Grow up by Playing
New-generation children may not be familiar with traditional ball games or playing with earthen bread. The new generation of parents permits their children to play mobile games and watch cartoons to keep them occupied. This is not a good habit. Giving mobile phones to temporarily occupy the children and allowing them to watch TV for hours can be harmful to children. Sitting in front of the TV or mobile for a long time can lead to obesity, insomnia, and behavioural disorders. Studies also show that children who watch TV for one to two hours a day fall behind in their studies.
Children can be taken to the park once a week. Engaging in games can energize them. Help children engage in fun, age-appropriate play. If there are no friends, parents themselves can be their children’s playmates. Cricket, football, cycling, badminton etc. will help them improve their physical fitness.
Children should be taught to maintain Cleanliness and Proper Routine
Train them to wash their hands before and after the meals. Ask them not to make noise while chewing. Children should be taught table manners like not talking with food in their mouth. Teach them to brush their teeth twice a day and keep their body clean.
The energy that is lost during the day can be recovered through good sleep at night. Young children should be trained to go to bed early. This habit is very important as children will need to go to bed early and wake up early as they reach school age.
