Kidnapped Nigerian Priest Father Ibrahim Amos Released

Father Ibrahim Amos, a Catholic priest from northwestern Nigeria, has been freed after being kidnapped from his home on 24 April. The parish priest of St. Gerald Quasi Church in Kurmin Risga was abducted in the early morning hours but has now returned home unharmed. The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan announced his release, thanking God and those who prayed for his safe return.

Father Jacob Shanet, chancellor of the Diocese of Kafanchan, expressed gratitude for the prayers and affection shown during the priest’s abduction. He also prayed for those still in captivity, asking the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for their safe release. This incident comes amid a wave of kidnappings in Nigeria, including the recent case of Father Sylvester Okechukwu, who was kidnapped and killed in Kaduna State. Pope Francis has expressed concern over the rising kidnappings, offering his prayers for the Nigerian people.
