A woman from Nigeria has asked for prayers for persecuted Christians and for the terrorist group Boko Haram in an interview in Rome on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. The shocking fact is that her husband was killed by this terrorist group in 2014. She called for prayer “that they will be saved, that Jesus will reveal himself to their heart, so that they will repent.”
Afordia, who asked to be identified by her first name only, told CNA during the interview: “I prayed for those who have killed my husband. I told them, ‘I have forgiven you from my heart’. They are unbelievers.”
She shared her testimony at a Jan. 15 presentation on worldwide Christian persecution from advocacy group Open Doors. She affirmed with conviction that she would never give up her faith in Jesus Christ.
Nigeria, which has been battling with Muslim extremist violence since 2009, was named one of the worst countries in the world for Christian persecution by the World Watch List 2025. According to the research, 3,100 Christians lost their lives in Nigeria in 2024 due to the persecution
