Pope Francis said on Thursday that the failure to integrate migrants can lead to serious issues. The Pope was addressing the participants in a conference on the Italian Diaspora in Europe on 11 November. There should be four actions taken in relation to migrants.
“Welcome, accompany, promote and integrate, the four steps. If we do not achieve integration, there may be problems, and serious ones,” he said. The migrants are now considered strangers by the natives. But they are an important part of us, the Pope reminded the community. “It is a beautiful mosaic, which must not be scarred or corrupted by prejudice or by hatred veiled on respectability. Europe is called today to revitalize its vocation for solidarity in subsidiarity,” the Holy father said.
