There are many saints who have got friendships with infant Jesus. Saint Rose of Lima is one of them. This saint had a great love for Infant Jesus. There is a big story behind that love.
Rose is a saint born in Lima, Peru, Latin America. Her parents did not send her to school when she was young, as she was a mile away from school. But she had a great desire to learn. The parents and siblings were approached with this request but they were all in their own hurry.
She sighed and went to infant Jesus’ figure inside the house and knelt down and prayed, “My Infant Jesus, teach me to know and love you, and come to my companion.” She prayed for a long time and with tears in her eyes, she looked for her elder brother Ferdinand but could not find him. Suddenly a gentleman came in front of her and asked why she was sad. She cried and said that she had not seen her brother. “Then come on, let’s play together,” said the boy. Together, they began to play Rose’s favorite game. Rose defeated the boy in the game. The boy asked her: “What is your name?” She replied, “Infant Jesus’ Rose.” When Rose asked the boy’s name, he replied, “Rose’s infant Jesus.” To allay her doubts, she asked, “Are you Jesus or the one in the picture?” “Yes,” replied the boy. Then she happily told him that she wanted to study.
He promised that “I will teach you,” she ran and fetched Katherine’s book. Infant Jesus read it to her. She slowly began to read. As she continued reading without making a mistake, infant Jesus slowly walked away. She has never lost her love and friendship for infant Jesus.
