In Nigeria, Christian Leader Dies at Captivity, Report Says

Reverend Dauda Bature, Christian leader of the First Evangelical Church Winning Everything (ECWA) of Nigeria, died in captivity of the alleged Muslim Fulani herdsmen who kidnapped him on 8 November.

The suspected militants had confirmed the death of the Reverend, abducted from his farm in the central state of Kaduna, the human rights foundation, Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), reported on Tuesday, 14 December.

The church leader’s wife, Haddasa Bature, was also captured. But she was released on 6 December.

Two days after they claimed to have released Reverend Bature; but later they said: “he had died a while ago”.

According to the human rights foundation, Reverend Bature’s wife was kidnapped on November 18 as she tried to deliver the ransom that she had negotiated with the terrorists for her husband, and which they later claimed was insufficient.
