Working from home has been very common after Covid 19. Some kind of work always has to be done from our home itself. That officials have no other option rather make home an office.
The increased isolation and confinement can actually worsen depressive symptoms among these people.
If you’re struggling to work from home without tanking your mood, here are some tips to make things a little easier for you (and your brain!).
1. Enjoy Even the Small Moments
This can be a piece of irritating advice. If depression is hitting you hard right now, the idea of incorporating “joy” into your day might feel foreign or absurd.
But try to do these things whenever possible: taking small breaks to stretch, watch a funny video, get some sunlight on your face, cuddle a cat, or listen to a favorite song can help make working remotely feel less draining.
You may feel that these small actions cannot make much of a difference, but the cumulative impact can matter more than you’d think.
2. Take a Break in Between
Taking a break in every 25 minutes of your work will increase your potential. Set your timer for 25 minutes and start working. When the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break.
Then, set the timer again and get back to work. After four 25-minute work sessions, your fourth break should be longer! (About 20 to 30 minutes.)
3. Connect with Your Co-workers and Friends beyond ‘Business’
Work meetings aren’t the only way you can connect with your co-workers. Do not forget about the human connection during your work. Try to connect with your co-workers. How about a virtual coffee date? Socializing with our workmates is an important part of staying mentally healthy during the week, especially when you’re working from home.
4. Stay Rejuvenated
Do not sink in your work always. You should have your food at the proper time and do not forget to drink water. Being hydrated is very much important as it can give you a feeling of freshness always.
5. Be Extra Compassionate with Yourself
You should have self-esteem and love yourself. Being kind to yourself is a matter of survival both physically and mentally.
6. Limit your Screen Time
Staring and ending our days at a screen is a very crucial thing. If possible, limit your screen time outside work hours and take frequent breaks to give your brain a quick reset.
With computers offering us so many distractions at any given moment, the amount of concentrated focus it requires can impact us significantly. It’s important to give ourselves some spaciousness to combat the digital fatigue that can come with working remotely, especially while self-isolating.
