There was a time when letters were written. Our older generations may still remember the golden era of letter writing which was the most popular medium, i.e., letter writing.
It was a custom that JMJ was written at the beginning of most letters written or received back then. Do you know what this means? It is an abbreviation of the prayer “Jesus, Mary and Joseph” seeking protection of the Holy Family.
This means seeking the guidance of Jesus, Mother and Joseph for what we are going to write. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen wrote in his autobiography that he began each of his letters by writing JMJ. Saint Therese of Lisieux also wrote in the same way. The letter T was added along with that. It was in honour of Saint Teresa of Avila.
Today we have changed to text messages and the custom of letters stopped. But let’s bring back the old way of sending email messages from now on. Every time you send a message, you can write Jesus Mary Joseph at the beginning. It will lead to the protection and intercession of Jesus, Mary and Joseph for our affairs.
