The Fifth Major Archi Episcopal Assembly of Syro Malabar Church Inaugurated

The 5th Major Archi Episcopal Assembly of the Syro-Malabar Church commenced on 22 August 2024, at the Alphonsian Pastoral Institute in Palai. Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil delivered the introductory address, emphasizing the importance of “thinking and walking together,” along with the mission and vision of the Catholic Church.

In his speech, Major Archbishop Thattil expressed hope that the assembly would strengthen the church’s commitment to its identity and community character. He encouraged the delegates to move forward with hope despite the challenges of the times.

Bishop Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurakkal, Bishop of Curia, led the assembly members in a pledge. The four-day assembly aims to develop a plan of action for the next five years through study, prayer, and collaboration.

Major Archbishop Thattil’s message of unity and hope set the tone for the assembly, which brings together delegates from the Syro-Malabar Church in Kerala to shape the future of the Church.
