February 26: St. Porphyrius of Gaza

St. Porphyrius of Gaza was born to a wealthy family. He then chose to live as a hermit in the desert of Skete, Egypt. He was sick always. But later selling the properties and had given the money to the poor people he was cured. Porphyrius relocated to Palestine on the bank of the Jordan river. He was later ordained as a priest in Jerusalem and later a reluctant bishop of Gaza. Porphyrius converted almost all of his diocese and eliminated paganism.
