Within the framework of the solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, which is celebrated on 26 November, Sunday we share with you seven exhortations in which the Lord spoke with “authority” about the end of times and salvation.
As noted by Pope Benedict XVI on 29 January 2012, God’s authority is based on service, humility, and “the power of God’s love that creates the universe.”
Below are the biblical quotes in which Christ speaks firmly and invites eternal salvation.
1. “The righteous will answer him: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; thirsty, and we gave you something to drink? When did we see you passing through, and lodge you; naked, and we clothe you? When did we see you sick or imprisoned, and did we go to see you?’ And the King will answer them: ‘I tell you the truth, every time you did it to the least of my brothers, you did it to me’” ( Mt 25:37-40 ).
2. “It is not those who say to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but those who do the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your Name? Did we not cast out demons and perform many miracles in your Name?’ Then I will tell them: ‘I never knew you; Depart from me, you who do evil’” ( Mt 7:21-23 ).
3. “The same thing will happen on the Day when the Son of Man is revealed. On that Day, whoever is on the roof and has his things in the house, do not go down to look for them. Likewise, whoever is in the field, do not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever tries to save her life will lose it; and whoever loses it, he will keep it” ( Luke 17:30-33 ).
4. “Jesus answered them, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will have no life in you. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day’” ( Jn 6:53-54 ).
5. “Blessed are you when you are insulted and persecuted, and when you are slandered in every way because of me. Rejoice and be glad then, for you will have a great reward in heaven; In the same way they persecuted the prophets who preceded them” ( Mt 5:11-12 ).
6. “Jesus answered: ‘My royalty is not of this world. If my royalty were from this world, those who serve me would have fought so that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But my royalty is not from here.’ Pilate said to him: ‘Then you are a king?’ Jesus answered: ‘You say it: I am king. For this I was born and came into the world: to bear witness to the truth. He who is of the truth listens to my voice’” ( Jn18,36-37 ).
7. “Coming near, Jesus said to them: ‘I have received all power in heaven and on earth. Go and make all people my disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to do everything I have commanded you. And I will always be with you until the end of the world’” ( Mt 28:18-20 ).
