This small community grew very quickly, and expanded to various countries, like Brazil, Africa, Mozambique, Romania, Germany and India. The daughters of Sacred Heart provides quality education especially to women in places where the women are considered marginalized. They bring many girls to the new pathways of life with a concrete basement of spirituality. Acquiring power from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, these small communities of religious sisters come forward to do many things for the society despite the crisis. These nuns selflessly share the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through their various means of activities among the poor and the needy.
In India, they began their mission on January 18, 1980, at Kudamalur in the Kottayam district of Kerala. These DSHJ Sisters extend their helping hands to the marginalized people in the society. They carry out their mission through catechesis, healthcare, family renewal, care for the differently abled and the orphaned girls.
More than 100 nuns, in 14 communities, are involved in the social and pastoral activities. Relying solely on the providence of God, this community continues to serve the people of Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra in India and abroad.
