December 22: Saint Flavian

Saint Flavian was a Roman prefect who lived in the fourth century. He was a Christian who was arrested by the authorities and deported after trial. He had suffered severe beatings and was chained and sentenced to banishment. Flavian, who lived a life of prayer and meditation, died there. He was martyred in August, 449.
