November 06: Saint Silvia 

Saint Silvia( 515- 592) was the mother of Saint Gregory the Great. She is the patron saint of pregnant women and safe delivery. Her native place is sometimes given as Sicily sometimes as Rome. Her husband was Roman regionarius and his name was Gordianus. Silvia was noted for her great piety, and she gave her sons an excellent education. After the death of her husband, she devoted her life to God.

The veneration of Silvia is of early date. She was honored by the Romans as a type of Christian widow. Pope Clement VIII inserted her name in the Roman Martyrology.
