SALVIFIC-VALUE OF TIME

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36)

“Live each day as if it is your last day. Because someday you will certainly be right”- a quote that well explains the preciousness and salvific-value of time. Jesus reminds us that vigilance is an important Christian discipline in terms of our preparation for the second coming of Christ. It is also a virtue/trait that values the preciousness and salvific value of time.

By reminding us of the virtue of vigilance he tells us of the importance of living the present moments. Living in the future (obsession with future) being worried about the predictions about Christ’s Second coming is absurdity, whereas vigilance is wisdom. Vigilance is an action of the present. Therefore, the best way to ensure the future (eternity) is living a blameless Christian life at present by being vigilant about matters that prevent you from being heaven-oriented. Today is the best day, the best time is now.  Do everyday activities with eternal significance.

“Do not be afraid that there is an end for your life. But be afraid that there is no beginning for your life again”:- St. John Chrysostom. Amen.
