Confession as a Habit in Lent

Lent is the ideal time for a spiritual awakening. We do the forty days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving and provide space to take a good look at our soul. The most wanted thing for the spiritual rebooting of Lent is the practice of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Confession is something we may be struggled to do habitually. If you have a melting part with your soul, just prepare and go for a confession. During Lent, you can start a new habit of making confessions. Here are some ways to keep a good confession routine:

A Confession Journal

A confession journal can be a book or your google drive. This is not a huge matter, but very helpful for our confessions. Note down the incidents made that the distance with your Father on a daily basis. While you gaze into your life, there may be something to jot down. If time was short, jot down at least a few words to capture the day. Over time, even just a few words can reveal truths. Having a journal full of these reflections armed us with what to say and can make you take the next step of getting to a confessional.

A Place to Confess

Finding a place to go to confession is the second step.  of my three-step routine. Your familiarity with your home parish will not provide the atmosphere you need. You may love your parish community and its priests dearly. Going to confession at other parishes and nearby shrines can make you feel less self-conscious. The anonymity of the confessor can help us to talk more freely about the things in my confession journal and better prepare to receive the mercy and forgiveness we seek. But always remember that the confessors will never remember your sins and they may not behave you in a rude way later based on your confession.

A Confession Schedule

Make a confession schedule with your timetables. Just block off an hour on your calendar at least once a month. Scheduling the time in advance can give you a reminder that you have to do it.
