Cardinal Sarah Celebrated his First Mass in Mexico

Cardinal Robert Sarah, emeritus prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, celebrated his first Mass in Mexico City at the Purísima Concepción parish on the morning, of 24 June.

The ceremony was attended by numerous faithful, as well as seminarians and the rector of the Hispanic Seminary of Santa María de Guadalupe, Fr. Juan Antonio Vértiz.

During his visit to Mexico, Cardinal Sarah will participate in a series of events, among which is an international course for priests on Theological Update, organized by the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross, an institution linked to the Prelature of Opus Dei.

In addition, there will be an event with lay people at La Salle University, under the title “Witnesses to the truth in a world of crisis.”

At the Mass, Fr. Guillermo Gutiérrez, parish priest of the Purísima Concepción parish, and one of the main organizers of Cardinal Sarah’s visit to Mexico, told the cardinal the joy of Mexicans for “having him here. Thank you for coming to visit us.”
