Cardinal Charles Maung Bo of Yangon, Myanmar, has issued a heartfelt farewell message as he concludes his second and final three-year term as President of the Federation of the Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC). Expressing profound gratitude and humility, Cardinal Bo reflected on the journey of growth, learning, and shared commitment to Christian values that have united the FABC members.
During his tenure, Cardinal Bo noted that the FABC has made significant strides in fulfilling its mission, motivated by Jesus and a Christological vision for Asia. He highlighted the ongoing synodal journey, which has strengthened bonds within the FABC and allowed for a clearer discernment of the shared vision and purpose. Cardinal Bo warmly welcomed his successor, Cardinal Felipe Neri Ferrão of India, expressing confidence in his leadership qualities, intellectual prowess, and Christocentric vision. He praised Cardinal Ferrão’s ability to make judicious decisions, coupled with his profound faith, and predicted that his leadership would usher in a new era of progress and impact.
