The former president of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, expressed that he has a wish that Benedict XVI be soon declared a Doctor of the Church, a title given to some saints in recognition of his teachings of the faith.
“Will the modern world finally decide to listen to him? It will be your salvation. I hope that he will soon be declared a Doctor of the Church, ”the cardinal said about Pope Emeritus in an interview with the newspaper La Stampa on 3 January.
The current Archbishop Emeritus of Genoa (Italy) assured that Benedict XVI will go down in history and that “a new star lit up in the firmament of heaven.”
