Buenos Aires Pays Tribute to Pope Francis in “Pact of Love” Pilgrimage

Hundreds of people gathered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a pilgrimage titled “A Pact of Love for Francis,” paying tribute to the late Pope Francis. The event featured vibrant displays of flags, banners, photos, and messages honoring the Argentine Pope. Murga groups from various neighborhoods added to the festive atmosphere with music and dance.

The pilgrimage route passed through significant locations in Pope Francis’s life, including Casa Mama Antula, Plaza Constitución, and the Hogar de Cristo San Alberto Hurtado, which works to prevent and treat addictions. The procession was led by images of the Virgin Mary, including Our Lady of Luján, the patron saint of Argentina, and Our Lady of Miracles of Caacupé, revered by Paraguayans.

Participants expressed their gratitude for Pope Francis’s impact on their lives. Lucas, a member of the Hogares de Cristo community, highlighted the Pope’s efforts to help those struggling with addiction, saying, “He gave us back our smiles… Today, thanks to them, we have hope of moving forward.” The pilgrimage served as a heartfelt farewell to the Pope, who was laid to rest in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome on the same day.
