A friend recently told me about an incident. He was walking across the yard at his son’s school, he saw a bench that was nicely painted red.
He asked the boy: “Is this the only place to sit here?”
“Oh, no, Papa. It is called the buddy bench. If any child feels lonely and has no one to play with, they will come to this buddy bench. So if someone is there, the other children will run and call him to play. Then he will be happy.”
What a great idea!
He asked the kid: “Have you ever sat there?”
Hanging onto the hands of the father he replied: “Ah, I went there without knowing for the purpose of this bench when I was fresh to this school. Then a boy came and called me to play; I was happy and I got many friends. If I see someone sitting there, I will now invite them to play.”
Doesn’t this bench teach us a lot?
- Don’t hesitate to call someone for the company if you feel lonely.
- Don’t always sink into yourself. You will not see the silent groans of others; Look around.
- Everyone needs someone at some point in life. Be someone to someone.
- Ask for what we want, innocently like children without overthinking it.
- The love or time you invest for others will return doubled. Give to those who deserve it.
The best-helping hands are your fingertips. Help yourself and help others
Let’s keep a buddy bench and let others…
