The biography of St.Carlo Acutis shows a very strong relation to the city of Assisi and the grave of St. Francis. Carlo’s mother Antonia Salzano pointed out that Carlo carried St. Francis of Assisi in his heart.
“Carlo was very simple, very spontaneous. He had a great devotion to Saint Francis, the Eucharistic saint, the saint of the community, the Christological saint. Carlo said that he wanted to be a saint, but not like Saint Francis, because Saint Franncis was very difficult to imitate,” said Carlo’s mother Antonio. He had a special bond with sain and he carried Assisi in his heart. He said that the city where he felt happiest was Assisi because here something special was breathed that one did not breathe in other cities, she added. He always loved to visit the Basilica of St. Francis. At the same time he behaved like any boy of his age.
Carlo liked to have him buried in Assisi although his family has graves in Italy. It can be interpreted as his testimony and believing that it was God’s plan to bury him in Assisi the day he died.
