Msgr. Jorge Vázquez, The Bishop in charge of the Episcopal Commission for Life, the Laity and the Family (Cevilaf), in Argentina, called to “get up” for the unborn children, the exploited and enslaved today. He was presiding over a Mass on the Day of the Holy Innocents at the Cathedral of Our Lord of Good Journey, of the Diocese of Morón; together with the parish priest, Fr. Martín Bernal; and other priests.
“Amid the difficult circumstances that we have to live, we want to continue announcing the joy of Christmas because God is with us and never abandons us.”
“Christmas is the great celebration of life and an invitation to commit ourselves to the care of it, beyond speeches and words, we need the commitment of deeds,” the Bishop expressed in his homily.
Archbishop Vásquez assured that “the Gospels do not disguise reality, nor do they make a beautiful speech, nor do they build a fanciful refuge to hide the injustices of their time.”
“They announce Christmas wrapped in a tragedy of pain. They present it with great rawness: ‘In Ramah, a voice was heard, there were tears and groans: It is Rachel who cries for her children” (Mt. 2, 18). It is the groan of mothers who mourn the deaths of their innocent children, as is also the case today, ‘” he quoted.
“We are called to listen to the cries and cries of the innocent today and make them our own,” to be like José and “wake up to reality and get up,” said Bishop Vásquez.
