Bible Verses that Help to Control Excessive Anger

Excessive anger affects one’s spiritual, physical and mental levels. It affects not only the life of an individual but also the lives of those around him. The fact is that people do not even want friendships with these people.

There are a lot of people who want to change their excessive anger. Here are some Bible verses that can help you calm down and overcome angry situations:

1. A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression. (Proverbs 29:22)

2. In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:26, 27).

3. Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end. (Proverbs 29:11)

4. A soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15: 1)

5. Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. (Proverbs 16:32)

6. A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacified great wrath. (Proverbs 21:14).

7. Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. (James 1:20).

Repeating and meditating on these verses will help to control and slowly eliminate excessive anger.
