Bible Verses for Farmers

Farming remains largely an act of faith. You plant a seed and you harvest a crop. But, in between, many things will happen in this process. Here are some verses that speak to a farmer’s faith.

1. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land. – Deuteronomy 28:8

2. But I will bless the person who puts his trust in me. He is like a tree growing near a stream and sending out roots to the water. It is not afraid when hot weather comes, because its leaves stay green; it has no worries when there is no rain; it keeps on bearing fruit. – Jeremiah 17:7-8

3. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. –Deuteronomy 28:12

4. May God give you of heaven’s dew and of earth’s richness – an abundance of grain and new wine. – Genesis 27:28

5. The threshing places will be full of grain; the pits beside the presses will overflow with wine and olive oil. I will give you back what you lost in the years when swarms of locusts ate your crops. – Joel 2:24-25

6. I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. – Jeremiah 29:11

7. Jesus said to them, “The times and occasions are set by my Father’s own authority, and it is not for you to know when they will be.” – Acts 1:7

8. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out. – John 1:5

9. Fill your minds with those things that are good and deserve praise; things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:8-9

10. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? My help will come from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2

11. Be sure you know the conditions of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations. – Proverbs 27:34-35

12. Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. – Ecclesiastes11:4

13. But ask the animals what they think – let them teach you; let the birds tell you what’s going on. Put your ear to the earth – learn the basics. Listen – the fish in the ocean will tell you their stories. Isn’t it clear that they all know and agree that God is sovereign, that he holds all things in his hand? – Job 12:7-12

14. Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest. – Proverbs 20:4

15. Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. – Proverbs 21:5

16. Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both. – Ecclesiastes 11:6

17. The farmer knows just what to do, for God has given him understanding. … The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher and he gives the farmer great wisdom. – Isaiah 28:26, 29

18. He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows. – Isaiah 30:23

19. I do not need bulls from your farms or goats from your flocks; all the animals in the forest are mine, and the cattle on thousands of hills. All the wild birds are mine and all living things in the fields. – Psalm 50:9-11

20. As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. – Genesis 8:22

And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, he will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. And he will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full. – Deuteronomy 11:13-15

22. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. – 1 Corinthians 3:8

23. He calmed the raging storm, and the waves became quiet. – Psalm 107:29

24. When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. – Deuteronomy 8:10

25. Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation. – Psalm 79:13

26. Give thanks to God – He is good and His love never quits. – 1 Chronicles 16:34
