Pope Francis asked the Christian community to be aware and careful about the hypocrites and reject the cult of appearance. The Holy Father made this caution on Sunday Angelus prayer at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
“How scribes like to walk to be noticed, to be greeted and revered, and to have places of honor. And Jesus adds that ‘they devour the property of the windows and pray ostentatiously to be noticed,” the Pope said. Pope Francis emphasized the verb “to look” because Jesus looks at ‘those who duplicitously live the faith, those scribes, we must look in order t not to become like them; while we must look at the window to take her as a model.
The Pontiff warned about to not forgetting that one must be alert so as not to fall into vanity, so as not to become obsessed with appearances, losing substance, and living in superficiality.
