How to Raise a Spiritual Child

Children between 5 to 8 children may not have the interest to receive great theological aspects. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t beginning to wrestle with some big questions, like “Who made God?” and “Where do you go when you die?”

“Kids are innately spiritual beings,” says Marianne Neifert, pediatrician, author, and mother of five. “They’re especially interested in how things are created.”

This is a good age to nurture your child’s spiritual side as a way of exploring his deep questions and as a way to connect to the world around him. And giving your child a spiritual foundation gives him a strong foundation.

What to do to nurture spirituality

Clarify your own beliefs. Whether or not you practice an organized religion, you’ll need to decide what you believe in order to foster spirituality in your child. That doesn’t mean you have to have all the answers, but you should take time to consider the questions: Do you believe in God? Do you believe there was a divine element in the creation of the world? What do you think happens when a person dies?

Introduce spirituality early on. Introducing spiritual practices to your child when she’s young – such as lighting candles or singing hymns together – lets your child view them as a natural part of life, and allows you to have a spiritual influence on her before other people do.

You should give answers to their questions

Children will ask many questions regarding God the creator. You should give the answers in a simplified manner with small stories. The stories will make the kid curious to know more about Christ and genesis. Through that, you can make your kid enter into the faith.
