Eucharius was born in 687 in Orleans. Around 714 he became a member of the Abbey of Jumieges, a Benedictine monastery. Seven years later he has ordained bishop of Orleans. But he was reluctant to take the position out of humility. However, at the request of the clergy and the clergy, Charles Martel, the local ruler, forcibly removed Eucharius from the monastery and ordained him as the bishop. The holiness he possessed earned him the affectionate respect of all.
Charles Martel’s practice was to seize the property of churches whenever he could not pay for war expenses. Eucharius strongly opposed the practice. Thus, in 737, Charles Martel deported Eucharius to Cologne.
Eucharius won the hearts of the people because of his piety and purity of life. The saintly soul became the focus of the people’s attention. He enriched his life by caring for his hungry, afflicted, and needy people. In 743 the saint was called to eternal rest in God.
