Nigerian Archbishop is Appointed as Permanent Observer of the Vatican at the UN

The Apostolic Nuncio to the Antilles, Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu, as the new Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Office and Specialized Institutions in Geneva.

Bishop Nwachukwu was also appointed Permanent Observer to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Representative of the Holy See to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The archbishop of Nigerian origin, previously appointed nuncio in Canada.

The appointment was confirmed in a press release from the Office of the Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of the Antilles on Friday, 17 December 2021.
