Cardinal Mario Zenari, the Apostolic Nuncio to Syria calls attention to the international community to make a sign of good faith regarding financial aids and also he laments that as the world forgets the Syrian people, they are losing their hope due to their long-suffering.
“I am extremely sorry to see that hope is dying. Naturally, I was greatly pained to watch people, especially children, die during the war, but beyond this suffering people nourished glimmers of hope; they said that eventually, the war would end, and the people would be able to go back to work, make a little money, and perhaps repair their homes and return to normal life,” Cardinal Zenari says his dream is far away from the reality. The Syrians are suffering severe poverty and economic uncertainty. He called on the European Union and the United States along with the Syrian Government to take a good step of faith and remove the sanctions of the regime which will help to rebuild and restart its economic growth.
He thanked the Catholic and Christian news agencies which seek to keep Syria from being forgotten to try to keep some hope alive.
