Pope Francis highlighted the pain of immigrants who “these days are exposed to grave dangers” and asked for a moment of silent prayer for them and for their sufferings.
The Holy Father held a meeting with members of associations and groups of immigrants who “in a spirit of brotherhood share his path.” These were present in St. Peter’s Square during the Angelus prayer and carried a huge flag. The Pope explained, on Saturday, 27 November.
Pope Francis assured that he feels “pain with the news about the situation in which so many of them [immigrants] find themselves. Like those who died in the English Channel, on the border of Belarus, so many of them children, as well as those who drowned in the Mediterranean”. “So much pain thinking of them,” he assured.
He also highlighted that immigrants who are repatriated to North Africa “are captured by traffickers and transformed into slaves: they sell women and torture men.” “To immigrants who are in this situation of crisis”, Pope Francis assured them of his prayer: “Know that I am close to you. Pray and do ”.
The Pope asked for a moment of silence to pray for the migrants and their sufferings.
