Pope Leo has sent warm greetings to the Jewish community of Rome on the occasion of the upcoming autumn holy days.
In a telegram addressed to Chief Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni and to the entire Jewish community, the Pope conveyed his best wishes for the celebrations of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.
In his message, the Pope said he hopes the celebrations will be an occasion of abundant blessings from the Almighty and a source of joy. He wished that the arrival of Rosh Hashanah may bring the promise of peaceful renewal and a propitious beginning, that the sacred silence of Yom Kippur may bring peace and inner light, and that the festival of Sukkot may be filled with joy, gratitude and fellowship.
Renewing his own esteem and that of the entire Church, Pope Leo asked the Eternal One to grant growth in mutual friendship, in the city of Rome and throughout the world.
