Pope Leo XIV will undertake his first apostolic journey to the American continent from November 6 to 17, 2026. Beginning in Uruguay, the papal tour will move through Argentina from November 8 to 11 before concluding in Peru. In Argentina, the Holy Father’s itinerary includes three major public Masses located in Buenos Aires, Luján, and Córdoba.
As central Argentina prepares for the historic occasion, provincial authorities and church leaders in Córdoba anticipate an influx of over one million pilgrims, tourists, and visitors from neighboring provinces and across Latin America. Marcelo Rodio, president of the Córdoba Culture Agency, highlighted that local theaters and museums will remain open alongside special cultural performances, including the Misa Criolla and the Cantata Brocheriana in honor of Saint Cura Brochero.
To support the massive logistics required for the event, the Archdiocese of Córdoba has announced a public call for 10,000 volunteers. Spokesperson Father Munir Bracco confirmed that volunteer tasks will range from first aid, security, and traffic direction to foreign language translation and welcoming pilgrims. The recruitment drive welcomes young people of all faiths who meet the minimum age requirement, with official applications set to launch on the archdiocese’s digital channels.
In addition, the archdiocese is coordinating free lodging for visiting delegations, parishes, and youth groups. Organizers are mapping available capacity across Catholic schools and community facilities to host pilgrims overnight. Groups seeking accommodation are encouraged to submit their operational requirements via the archdiocesan survey before the September 15 deadline to assist with regional event planning.
