Highlighting that minors represent the most vulnerable demographic within global migration flows, the Pope underscored that their trauma rarely ends upon reaching a destination. He pointed to the severe hardships these children endure—ranging from family separation, loss of loved ones, and exposure to extreme conditions, to the tragic impacts of parental repatriation. Furthermore, he condemned the systemic abuses plaguing migration routes, including human trafficking, recruitment in armed conflicts, sexual violence, and forced marriages.
To address this global crisis, Pope Leo XIV called for comprehensive action that tackles the root causes forcing children to flee their homelands, alongside robust protection policies in transit and host nations.
