The Holy See Press Office has officially published the schedule for Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming pastoral visit to the Republic of San Marino and Rimini on August 22. The day-long journey features a packed itinerary, including official state meetings, spiritual visits, and an address at the annual Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples in Italy’s Romagna region.
Pope Leo will depart from the Vatican heliport at 8:00 a.m. and arrive at the Torraccia Airfield in San Marino an hour later. His morning will focus on civic and religious engagements in the microstate, starting with private meetings with the Secretaries of State and the Captains Regent at the Public Palace, where he will sign the Book of Distinguished Guests. After meeting with members of the Great and General Council, the Pope will greet the crowd from the palace balcony and offer his Apostolic Blessing. He will then proceed to the Basilica of San Marino for Eucharistic Adoration and the veneration of the relics of St. Marinus alongside local clergy and religious leaders before departing the square around 12:15 p.m.
Following his official duties in San Marino, the Pontiff will make a strictly private stop in Pennabilli to visit the Augustinian Nuns at the Monastery of St. Anthony of Padua. The contemplative community, historically known for sheltering refugees and religious women during World War II, holds a special connection to the order’s history—having been reinforced in 2012 by sisters transferred under the approval of then-Prior General Robert F. Prevost.
By mid-afternoon, the papal helicopter will land at the Rimini Expo Centre, where Pope Leo will participate in the Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples. His stop includes visits to exhibitions on St. Augustine and Léon Harmel, a meeting with young participants at the Children’s Village, and an address in the Grand Auditorium. Before concluding his pastoral visit with a 6:30 p.m. open-air Mass at Port Square, the Pope will visit Rimini Cathedral to meet with sick individuals, persons with disabilities, and people assisted by Caritas. He is scheduled to depart Rimini at 8:00 p.m. and return to the Vatican by 9:00 p.m.
