SIGNIS Prepares to Host World Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, August 3–8

Preparations are nearly complete for the SIGNIS World Congress, set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 3 to 8, 2026. Father Professor Walter Chikwendu Ihejirika, SIGNIS Africa President and Chairperson of the Africa Organising Committee, said the continent is ready to welcome delegates and guests.“We are less than a month away from the SIGNIS World Congress, and I want to affirm that we have everything under control,” Fr. Walter told Vatican News. “We have been working night and day to ensure that everything about every aspect of the Congress is well taken care of.

The Continental Organising Committee, as well as the Local Organising Committee in Kigali, have worked hard and are still working hard to ensure a successful Congress.”The Congress website is already operational and has been used for registration of Catholic communicators planning to attend. The event will be held at the Sainte Famille Hotel in Kigali.

Fr. Walter said several departments are handling reception, accommodation, logistics, and transportation to ensure a smooth experience for participants. “We have been issuing letters of invitation to all SIGNIS members travelling, to ordinary Catholic Communicators who want to participate, and to other Catholic guests. Our goal is to make this World Congress a success and for people to take back home warm memories,” he said.
