The Vatican is hosting a two-day international congress, “Quid est homo? Quis est homo?” (“What is man? Who is man?”), on March 23-24, 2026. Organised by the Pontifical Academy for Life, NCCR Molecular Systems Engineering, and Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, the event brings together scientists, doctors, and bioethicists to discuss the ethics of molecular biology, regenerative medicine, and biotechnology from a Christian perspective.
The congress will feature keynote lectures and panel discussions on topics such as science and human identity, consciousness, and the ethics of genetic engineering. Renowned researchers, including Maria Chiara Carrozza, John P.A. Ioannidis, and Gaia Novarino, will participate in the event. The congress aims to foster dialogue between science, ethics, and spirituality, guiding future policies and practices in biomedical research and molecular biology.
