Christian Priests Targeted in Tigray

Christian priests are continued to target and killed by Eritrean forces in the ongoing riots in Tigray. The conflict makes the lives of the Christians and priests very difficult in the country.

“Some of the press stand holding their crosses, so they cut their hands. And when the soldiers ask the priests to remove their hats, when they say no, they shoot them. Hundreds of priests are dying in this conflict at the hands of Eritrean soldiers, “said Helen Berhane, a former prisoner of faith. The authoritarian government in Eritrea forced most churches to close in 2002 and has arrested and detained many Christians. Many Christians have fled to Ethiopia and stayed in refugee camps.

As the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church dedicates on 7 November, the people of the Tigray region also need prayer support from the world.
