US President Joe Biden received Communion during Mass in Rome on Saturday evening. The Mass was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, which had a large security presence. About 30 people attended the Mass. Biden told that the Pope encouraged him to receive Holy Communion during their meeting held on Friday.
Reports stated that Mass was celebrated by Fr. Joe Ciccone and two concelebrating priests. The 75 minutes meeting held at the Pope’s library in the Vatican brought two men, the Pope and the President, to discuss climate change. “We just talked about the fact that he was happy I was a good Catholic and I should keep receiving Communion,” Biden said. Joe Biden is the second American Catholic to become President. Some bishops and other Catholics bar him from receiving the Eucharist due to his supportive attitude towards abortion.
